The 2816 was on a cross country trip. On May 26, the engine was running from Mactier to Toronto. This was a real fun chase. I could not keep up with this engine, I was going well over 80 mph trying to get ahead of the engine and it was just impossible. I had never seen a steam locomotive run that fast. The engine made a stop in Tottenham for a photo shoot with the South Simcoe railroad. After the photo shoot, the engine made another fast run to Toronto before heading for Montreal a few days later.
I also followed the engine on an excursion from Toronto to Welland. The trip was a one way excursion as the train was headed for the United States. The trip followed the same route it followed in 2003, but continued south after reaching Hamilton. The engine spent the night in Welland and then on June 13, the engine crossed from Fort Erie, Ontario to Buffalo, New York. I gave up chasing after seeing the engine in Buffalo because a diesel was added to the front of the train.
