The Wanamaker Kempton & Southern began operations in 1963. The line was originally part of the Reading railroad. Today trains travel over a 3 mile section of the Reading railroad from Kempton to Wanamakers. The locomotive seen in these pictures is a 0-6-0 tank engine built by Porter in 1930.
I was here in August 2003. The weather was wet, but that didn't ruin this trip. This railroad is great, even though it is small, it is very photographic. I was late getting here because one of the towns I was driving through had roads that were nearly flooded over. I pulled in just in time to watch the train leave, so I turned around and started chasing. The train crew was very nice and helped direct me to some good photo spots.
