One of the things that appealed to me about garden railroading was that they can be run all year in all conditions. December 1rst was the first real snow that we had this year and I thought it was the perfect time to boil some water! I learned several things in this brief run. First is that no matter how cold your hands are don't warm them on the boiler! I also learned that ballast freezes and loves to derail trains. The cold weather creates great steam plumes but they are hard to photograph against a snowy background. It was great fun and I am sure there will be several more snowy runs this year!
