In August 2000 I was finishing up a vacation to Canada, on the way back we took a detour over to the Elgin County Railroad Museum. It was their annual railfair. They had their 0-6-0 running short passenger excursions through the yard area all weekend. In addition, 4-8-4 #2100 was on display under steam. The engine had just been restored by a private owner and he allowed the engine to be brought out for the event. I arrived the afternoon before the event started and the people working around the area were very friendly. I was taking a picture of one of the engines and one of the engine crew walked in front of the engine to do something and another member of the crew yelled to him to get out of the way while I was taking a picture. I have never seen that happen before. I didn't mind him in my picture, but thank you!
There was always something to do here. There was a nice train show inside the shop and many displays to look through. They had a ton of track speeders there and some you could ride through the yard. There was a night photo shoot that I attended and it was great, they had several set ups for us and were very helpful. The #2100 was not allowed to move during the day because it was considered too big to move with a large crowd around, but I got to see it move for the night photo shoot. It was a great way to cap off a great vacation. On a side note, many of these photographs were taken at night, two of the pictures on this page were taken during the night photo session, while the rest on this page and page 1 were done with my own lighting or existing lighting.
